The Baleen Filter is a highly-efficient non-pressurised self-cleaning solution for separating solids from wastewater streams, and offers several compelling benefits and advantages over conventional systems.

Filtration and separation equipment may be divided into two classes; those that offer a “process” use, and those that offer a “utility” use. Most “process” applications are very-specific to industry, whereas “utility” applications are simply characterized by the nature of the fluid, and are relatively independent of industry. The Baleen Filter falls into the “Process” filter category.
The Baleen Filter uses a double act of high pressure, low volume sprays, one which dislodges material caught by the filter media, whilst the other spray sweeps the material away for collection.
This process removes even the most troublesome of constituents such as grit, suspended and fibrous matter, grease and oil from water without blocking the filter to enable smooth continuous operation.
As water flows through the filter media, solids initially suspended in the water are left behind. But before they accumulate to block the screen media the second spray transports these contaminants away from the filtering zone, enabling the filtering process to continue without disruption.
The name ‘Baleen’ is the anatomical name for a particular whalebone belonging to the group of filter-feeding whales. The baleen is essentially the filter mechanism that enables the whale to collect krill and other marine organisms during feeding; whilst a sweeping action of its tongue and the reversal of water-flow as the whale dives and re-surfaces enables the straining of food, and cleaning of their baleen prior to next meal. The Baleen Filter technology is an engineered adaptation of this natural technique used by the Baleen whale.
