Spiral Water

Spiral Water

Spiral Water offers several configurations of its advanced automatic, self-cleaning filters to accommodate a wide range of high solids filtration and separation needs.

Our Series 800 Model 850 Automatic Filter is our cornerstone product. Available in stainless steel, the Model 850 is the latest evolution of our widely used Series 800 filters – our most compact product line, designed for lower flow, low pressure, low temperature applications.

Our larger Series 1000 Automatic Self-cleaning Filters, available in stainless steel, are designed to handle medium to high flow, high pressure, high temperature applications and liquid/solids separation. The Model T1000 is intended for industrial applications while Model H1000 accommodates sanitary applications.

Our new break-out High Solids Water Recovery (HSWR) System is a packaged, turnkey system that combines our Series 1000 automatic, self-cleaning filters with other industry equipment in various configurations depending on the intended application.

Regardless of the model, all Spiral Water filters are engineered to deliver superior performance while reducing CapEx and OpEx. Our technology is designed for high TSS/BOD removal with the ability to handle high TSS loading of over 500 ppm, and process bulk solids removal up to 15,000 mg/l TSS (15% by volume), while providing continuous 15-to-1500-micron filtration. They can filter up to 50 times dirtier water, in just one pass, while requiring only a fraction of the energy and footprint required by large capital equipment.

Our products can be used as for pre-filtration, as a primary filter, or for fluid reclamation from existing filter backwash or centrifuge underflow. In addition, our proprietary purge technology concentrates solids to reduce waste or in some cases, for potential resale.

In addition, our filters can be used as standalone products, combined into multiplex filter skids, and/or integrated into larger treatment systems. Compact, self-contained and lightweight, they require only a fraction of the footprint of other filters and are also low-maintenance, with less downtime and greatly reduced manpower requirements.

Model 850 – Solids Concentrating Automatic Filter

The SWT850 is the latest model in our 800 Series automatic self-cleaning filters. Designed to remove suspended solids (TSS) from high and variable total solids fluid streams, each filter unit contains a motor-driven, rotating spiral-shaped mechanical cleaning device that continuously cleans collected debris from inside the filter element. Solids are collected at the bottom of the filter housing to be expelled through an automatic purge valve or a continuous concentrate stream.

Unlike backwash filters, the SWT system does not require high pressure; it operates at system pressure of less than 20 psi and performs at very low differential pressure. No backwash, cross flow or booster pumps are required. The purge chamber can be configured to dump solids directly to waste or for removal and concentration of solids.

The latest evolution of our Series 800 filters, the SWT850 is designed to remove high total suspended solids (TSS) and reduces the rated flow by up to 50%.

The filters are available in single (SWT850-OEM) or multiple (SWT850-DPX) filter configurations to satisfy higher customer application flow rates.

Series 1000 – Liquid/Solid Separator and Automatic Self-cleaning Filter

Our Series 1000 automatic self-cleaning filter is engineered for medium to high flow, high pressure, high temperature applications and liquid/solids separation. It is designed for industrial use to remove ultra-high and variable total suspended solids (TSS) from a fluid stream. Series 1000 filters are available in two models – the T1000 for industrial applications and the H1000 for sanitary applications.

Each filter unit contains a motor-driven, spiral-shaped brush that continuously cleans collected debris from inside the filter element. Solids collect at the bottom of the filter housing, to be expelled through an automatic purge valve or a continuous concentrate stream. The system does not require high pressures to operate and performs at very low differential pressure. No backwash, cross flow or booster pumps are required.

Systems are configured from single to multiple filter configurations to satisfy higher customer application flow rates.

High Solids Water Recovery (HSWR) System

The latest addition to Spiral Water’s portfolio, the HSWR System is a turn‐key high solids filtration system that is able to receive high solids loaded process water with TSS greater than 15,000 ppm to recover and reuse water with significantly reduced TSS and BOD.

The fluid is first filtered by an outside-to-in flow drum screen where a bulk of the large particles is removed from the flow. The effluent of the drum screen is then fed into a 200-gallon equalizer tank before it is pumped to the SWT 25μm automatic T1000 filter. The automatic filter further reduces the TSS and BOD by up to 50% and 30%, respectively.

The automatic filter purge is then fed into a spiral compactor along with the screened waste from the drum screen. The system effluent from the automatic filter can be sent to local municipalities with reduced TSS and BOD, or it can be diverted to a temporary holding tank and used in other plant processes. In food systems, the collected biomass that is recovered can be used in secondary market purposes.

The system is controlled and monitored by a single control panel and utilizes equipment from Spiral Water Technologies as well as other leading separation equipment manufacturers. Spiral Water’s engineering team can also design and build custom solutions taking a similar approach but using alternative technologies suitable to solve your unique challenges.
