Traveling Water Screens – Continuous Debris Removal for Large Water Intakes

Headquartered in Delta, BC—within the Vancouver metropolitan area—Pureworld Solutions Inc. supports industrial clients throughout Western Canada with traveling water screens and other advanced filtration and separation technologies.

Pureworld Solutions Inc.’s Expertise in Traveling Water Screens

At Pureworld Solutions Inc., we specialize in delivering advanced traveling water screens that serve as the first stage of filtration for power plants, municipal water treatment, and other industries that rely on raw water sources. Our traveling water screens effectively filter out debris of all sizes, from large objects like tree trunks to tiny aquatic larvae, before water enters facilities.

The Pureworld Advantage: Best-in-Class Traveling Water Screens Solutions

Unlike single-source suppliers, Pureworld Solutions Inc. partners with multiple leading manufacturers to deliver the ideal traveling water screens solution for your specific application. This multi-vendor approach allows us to:

  • Select the optimal design from the best manufacturers
  • Mix and match components to create custom-engineered systems
  • Provide unbiased recommendations based on performance rather than brand loyalty
  • Offer competitive pricing through multiple supplier relationships
  • Ensure continuous supply chain reliability with backup sourcing options

How Traveling Water Screens Work

Traveling water screens feature a continuously moving mesh screen that removes debris and fish from water intakes. Water enters either side of the screen and flows through the endless band of mesh panels to the inside of the screen. As the panels travel upward, captured debris is lifted and deposited at the head section. Fish are gently discharged back to their environment through fish return systems. Debris continues to travel to a pressure wash system where high-pressure jets clean the panels and solids are collected for disposal. The cleaning process occurs without interrupting filtration.

Frequently Asked Questions About Traveling Water Screens

What mesh sizes are available for traveling water screens?

Traveling water screens are available with mesh sizes typically ranging from 200 microns to 10 mm, depending on application requirements. Fine mesh screens can capture smaller life forms, while coarser screens handle larger debris loads.

How do traveling water screens protect fish?

Traveling water screens can include S.I.M.P.L.E. fish handling systems or similar technologies that safely recover and return marine life to their natural habitats in compliance with EPA Clean Water Act Section 316(b) requirements.

What is the difference between dual-flow and center-flow traveling screens?

Dual-flow (out-to-in) screens have water entering from both sides, while center-flow (in-to-out) screens have water entering through the center. Center-flow designs avoid debris accumulation at the bottom of channels and provide more efficient cleaning with the natural gravity direction.

Can traveling water screens handle seasonal variations?

Yes, traveling water screens can be adjusted for seasonal conditions. Systems can include fine mesh screens for capturing smaller organisms, heating elements to prevent ice formation in cold climates, and variable speed operation based on debris loading.

Why choose Pureworld Solutions Inc. for traveling water screens?
