Natures Ore is a 400 micron heavy metal removal media designed, and installed into treatment columns. Once loaded Natures Ore can be regenerated with an extremely dilute acid solution and returned to service. Regenerate solutions with metals, for example copper, at thousands of parts per million (ppm) can be filtered. The treated water can be used in multiple areas, for example, systems in the past have used the treated water to irrigate the lawns of the commercial site or have used the water on a closed looped system reducing the water usage dramatically. For most applications the treatment is done using a four foot bed of Nature’s Ore, giving the most effective removal rate, but is dependent upon flow rate and influent levels. The media is a compound that coordinates selectively with other compounds, and retains those other compounds, at selected conditions. Natures Ore retains heavy metal compounds at mild acidic or base conditions, and releases them when treated with a dilute acid solution.

As many marina’s have done for decades, the client had been washing anti-fouling paint of the bottom of the boats and allowing the water to run back into the ocean. This was an obvious issue that had to be attended to. The client had SafeChem Systems come in and custom design a system that could full fill all their needs. The system was designed to do 20GPM, but was only ran at 10GPM for the first year, due to business requirements.
From the lab analysis on the front side it is clear that the removal process is capable of handling many thousands of ppm down to a few ppb and still polish further. The multi-stage process is proprietary and can help business is many industries reduce, remove and reuse.
All water is treated/reused and not a drop of contaminant has entered the ocean since the install.
Before the Natures Ore system was installed, the rinse water consumption was 85,000 gallons per day. This was reduced to 20,000 gallons per day by improved “housekeeping”. The rinse waters are pre-treated by precipitation that does not reduce the heavy metal concentrations to the EPA-imposed limits.
The precipitation-treated rinse water is filtered, passed through Natures Ore beds and re-used in the tobe-plated-items washing stage. The copper-nickel-zinc-chromium-cadmium concentrations are reduced by the Natures Ore treatment to such low levels that the rinse water can be, and is, discharged directly to the sewer.
Fresh water consumption now is 8,000 gallons per day.
